Background and Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use, together with all other documents referred to below, set out the terms of use under which you (“You”) may use the CAUSE+SELECT platform (“CAUSE+SELECT”). Please read these Terms of Use carefully and ensure that You understand them. By accessing and using CAUSE+SELECT, You accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If You do not agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Use, you must stop using CAUSE+SELECT immediately.

Platform Purpose and Ownership

CAUSE+SELECT is a platform designed to connect gaming industry participants with charitable organizations for collaborative fundraising and awareness campaigns. CAUSE+SELECT is owned and operated by CTRL+IMPACT LTD, a company registered in England under company number 16560551, of 2 Bignell Croft, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England, MK5 8BF (“We”, “Us”, “CIL”)

1. Account Registration

Eligibility

  • • You must be 18 years or older
  • • You must represent a legitimate organization or be an authorized individual
  • • You must provide accurate and complete information

Account Verification

  • • All accounts require admin approval before full platform access
  • • We reserve the right to verify your organization's legitimacy
  • • False information may result in account termination
  • • You must keep and use all account information securely

User Conduct

You agree to:

  • • Provide truthful and accurate information
  • • Use the platform for legitimate charitable purposes
  • • Respect other users and organizations
  • • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

You agree NOT to:

  • • Misrepresent your organization or authority
  • • Engage in fraudulent activities
  • • Harass or spam other users
  • • Violate intellectual property rights
  • • Undertake, enable, permit, authorise, or facilitate any form of web scraping or text or data mining on or with respect to any part of CAUSE+SELECT.
  • • Use any part of CAUSE+SELECT or any data, Content, or information included on CAUSE+SELECT, for the purposes of developing or training AI models or systems.

We may reject or remove any user content from CAUSE+SELECT where, in Our sole opinion, it violates any of our policies or terms, or if We receive a complaint from a third party and determine that the user content in question should be removed as a result.

2. Campaign Participation

For Charities

  • • You must be a registered charity or non-profit organization
  • • Campaign information must be accurate and truthful
  • • You are responsible for fulfilling campaign commitments

For Game Studios and Creators

  • • Participation in campaigns is voluntary
  • • You maintain ownership of your intellectual property
  • • Terms of specific collaborations should be agreed separately

3. Intellectual Property

  • • CAUSE+SELECT content is owned by CIL
  • • User-generated content remains owned by users
  • • You grant us an unconditional, non-exclusive, sub-licensable, royalty-free licence to display and promote your content on CAUSE+SELECT

4. Privacy policy and data sharing

Use of CAUSE+SELECT is also governed by Our [Platform Privacy Policy], available from [INSERT LINK]. Data sharing under CAUSE+SELECT is governed by Our Data Sharing Agreement, available from [INSERT LINK]. By agreeing to these Terms of Use you also agree to comply with the Platform Privacy Policy and the Data Sharing Agreement

5. Liability

CAUSE+SELECT provides a platform to connect charities with game studios for partnership opportunities. We do not collect donations, process payments, or provide fundraising services. All fundraising activities are conducted independently by the participating charities, who remain solely responsible for compliance with applicable fundraising and other related laws and regulations. You hereby indemnify Us against all losses, damages and costs We may incur in relation to any breach by you of this and any other undertaking given by You under these Terms of Use.

We are not responsible for:

  • • The outcome of campaign collaborations
  • • Disputes between parties
  • • Financial arrangements between users
  • • Third-party content or actions [You hereby indemnify Us against all losses, damages and costs We may incur in relation to any such disputes or actions arising out of any misuse of CAUSE+SELECT by You or in relation to any breach by You of these Terms of Use.] [Nothing on CAUSE+SELECT constitutes advice on which you should rely. It is provided for information purposes only.]

To the fullest extent permitted by law, We hereby exclude all implied conditions, warranties, representations, or other terms that may apply to CAUSE+SELECT or its content. We will not be liable for any loss of profits, sales, business or revenue; loss of business opportunity, goodwill, or reputation; loss of anticipated savings; business interruption; or for any indirect or consequential loss or damage.

We neither assume nor accept responsibility or liability arising out of any disruption or non-availability of CAUSE+SELECT resulting from external causes including, but not limited to, ISP equipment failure, host equipment failure, communications network failure, natural events, acts of war, or legal restrictions and censorship.

Nothing in these Terms of Use excludes or restricts Our liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for any other forms of liability which cannot be excluded or restricted by law.

6. Termination

We reserve the right to:

  • • Immediately suspend or terminate accounts and these Terms of Use for breaches of these Terms of Use

Modify or discontinue the platform

  • • Either Party may terminate these Terms of Use without cause at any time by notice or by closing the User’s account. In the event that CAUSE+SELECT terminates this agreement without cause, we will provide five working days’ notice by email.

Effect of Termination

  • • The User’s access to CAUSE+SELECT ends immediately.
  • • CIL will deactivate the account and delete or anonymise relevant Personal Data (as defined in the [Platform Privacy Policy]) in line with its retention policies.
  • • Parties remain responsible as independent controllers for any personal data they hold or have received outside the platform.

Termination of these Terms of Use shall not affect any rights, obligations, or liabilities that have accrued prior to the termination date, including any ongoing obligations relating to data retention, deletion, or confidentiality.

Subject to the above, CIL may modify or terminate CAUSE+SELECT at its operational discretion

7. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms with notice. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
